Danny takes the lead on the Architectural Design and Planning of new opportunities: working with clients from the outset of a project to ensure that their aspirations are achieved.
Danny has 30 years of experience in designing schemes and securing planning consents for clients. In 2022, he was recognised with both the National Care Award and the Pinders Healthcare Design Award for BEST ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN for two of his projects.
Northstar was originally established in 2007 by Danny Sharpe and Ian Holmes as a specialist consultancy, offering Architecture, Planning and Project Management services exclusively in the elderly care sector. Since that time, we have worked with a number of care home operators to design and build over 3,000 care home beds right across the UK. We work for Private care home operators, Voluntary sector providers, Charitable Trusts and Housing Associations.
Ian acts on the client’s behalf Project Managing the construction process from start to finish. Taking the design work, Ian develops a bespoke Specification with the client; draws up a set of Employer’s Requirements and seeks tenders from specialist builders. Ian then stays on the client side of the contractual table, guiding the whole process from Legals, through to Technical Detailing and making sure the builder delivers exactly what the client wants.
Trained in both Project Management and in Technical Architectural detailing, Ian is able to cast an expert eye over the whole construction process. Ian works closely with clients from commencement through to CQC sign off, chairing regular site meetings with all parties to monitor and evaluate construction progress and quality.
